A future title contender at featherweight will likely emerge in the main event at UFC Fight Night from Moscow this Saturday when Zabit Magomedsharipov takes on Calvin Kattar in the five-round main event.
Originally slated as the co-main event, Magomedsharipov and Kattar were bumped into the headline spot following an injury to former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos that forced him out of his showdown against Alexander Volkov.
On Thursday, the featherweight headliners faced off for the first time during media day in Russia as they prepare to clash this weekend.
In the co-main event, Greg Hardy will take dos Santos’ place in the fight against Volkov as the ex-NFL player takes a decided step up in competition for the chance to compete against a higher ranked opponent.
Hardy is coming off a no-contest in his most recent outing after he used an inhaler between rounds while facing Ben Sosoli at UFC on ESPN 6 from Boston. The fight was originally scored as a unanimous decision for Hardy, who now looks to officially get back in the win column when he faces Volkov this weekend.
UFC Fight Night from Moscow, Russia airs on ESPN+ in the United States with the main card starting at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
