Former UFC middleweight contender and PRIDE champion Wanderlei Silva was involved in an accident in Brazil.
He was hit by a car and left with a broken foot and facial injuries, while riding his bike in the streets of Curitiba.
“If I didn’t have a helmet on, I could’ve died.” Silva said. “ People need to watch out while out on the streets. It’s hard to ride a bike in Curitiba. He (the driver) was very nice. He stopped and put me in his car. Other people also showed up to help.”
“We have much more cyclists in the city, but we don’t have a proper place to ride.” Silva continued. “Unfortunately, drivers don’t respect us. I was really sad with this accident. I can only ask people to be more aware while driving and please don’t use your phones, it could cost someone’s life.”
A comeback boxing bout between Wanderlei and legend Mike Tyson was rumored to be in the works.
