The World Boxing Organization has ordered a purse bid for the WBO light heavyweight title fight between the champ Sergey Kovalev (33-3-1) and the challenger Anthony Yarde (18-0-0). The organization gave both camps 30 days for negotiations, but it seems they couldn’t reach an agreement.
The date of the purse bid is April 8 and the minimum bid for the bout is $300,000. This will be without a doubt one of the best fights of the year, as the Russian regained the WBO title this February after he lost the first fight with Colombia’s Eleider Alvarez. The 27-year-old Yarde, on the other hand, is probably the best all-around light heavyweight right now, having 18 wins in 18 bouts, 17 of which came after KOs.
