UFC welterweight star Jorge Masvidal and his team have made it clear what they want next: Either a title shot or a money fight with Conor McGregor.
UFC president Dana White declared that Masvidal is too big for McGregor, which White revealed didn’t sit too well with the former two-division UFC champion.
“Masvidal is too big for him,” White said during the UFC 240 post-event news conference. “I think Masvidal is too big. Conor disagrees, so Conor was not happy that I said that Masvidal was too big for him.”
And what was McGregor’s response to White?
“That pisses me off that you said he’s too big for me,’” White said McGregor told him. “I’ve said it a million times, and I’ll say it again: This guy will fight anybody, and I don’t care if he’s pissed off about it or not. I think that Masvidal is too big for Conor. So, if we ever get to that point, I’m sure it’s something Conor and I will fight about.”
With his calls for either a title shot or McGregor, Masvidal is looking to capitalize on his momentum this year. He knocked out Darren Till in March, then followed up with an enormous flying-knee finish of Ben Askren this month to set a UFC record for fastest KO at 5 seconds.
McGregor hasn’t fought since his fourth-round submission loss to lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov last October.
