The 2020 WKF Youth Camp and the Karate 1-Youth League event which were scheduled to be held in Porec (Croatia) later this year have been officially canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Two of the most popular events for youngsters, the WKF Youth Camp and the Karate 1-Youth League Porec had been initially slated for June and July respectively but were postponed to a later date because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the World Karate Federation and the local organizers have been closely monitoring the situation, the spread of the coronavirus epidemic and the immune situation in many countries around the world prevent these events to be held with enough guarantees for athletes, fans, and staff members. Considering the current circumstances, the WKF has decided to officially cancel the two events.
The WKF Youth Camp is the most massive Karate event of the year for youngsters. A celebration of the influence of Karate at young ages, the WKF Youth Camp has continuously registered a record-breaking tally of assistance, with over 1200 youngsters from 69 countries attending the last edition of the event. Following the successful registration records of the event, the 2020 WKF Youth Camp had moved from its location in Umag to Porec to accommodate a larger number of participants.
Also canceled due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the Karate 1-Youth League Porec was the second event of the season of the series of tournaments designed to give youngsters a competition platform to develop their abilities.
Three of the four events of the 2020 season of the Karate 1-Youth League have been now officially canceled because of COVID-19, as the tournaments in Limassol (Cyprus), Porec (Croatia) and Monterrey (Mexico) have been withdrawn from the calendar. The final event of the season of Karate 1-Youth League is tentatively scheduled to be held in Venice (Italy) from December 4 to 6.
