One of Britain’s top dogs in the heavyweight division Dillian Whyte is primed for the top, but the question is can he land a title shot.
“The Body Snatcher” has been WBC number 1 challenger for almost two and a half years now, but he’s yet to participate in a world title fight. Whyte will have his chance in 2021 when he’s scheduled to face the WBC champion whoever that is at this time.
But Whyte has one name on his list that he wants to have a clash with and that is the unified heavyweight champ, Anthony Joshua. The pair have already met back in 2015 when “AJ” KO’d Whyte, but a lot of things have changed since then and Whyte is pretty sure a potential rematch will go down way different.
“I would love to fight Joshua again, at a drop of a hat,” said Whyte to skysports.com.
“It’s one of the biggest fights out there. I’m in the game to have the biggest fights and the most meaningful fights. If Ruiz can knock him out, I can 100 percent knock him out, because I’m a harder puncher than Andy Ruiz.”
As of this moment, the future is pretty unclear because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Whyte was supposed to fight Alexander Povetkin on May 2 in London, but the coronavirus pandemic has suspended almost all of the major sporting events throughout the whole world. There is still no certainty when and if the fight will take place.
Joshua, on the other hand, is obligated to fight his IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.
