Training and mastering your craft is just half of the work you gotta put in in order to be a successful sportsman.
Eating healthy and clean is often way harder than it sounds like, because you have holidays every now and then, you have desires just like any other human being and etc. That’s why it is super important to build those habits at an early age, so you can follow them way more easily when you get older.
USA Olympic and World wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs is by far one of the best wrestlers out there and that’s because the man knows how and when to train and most importantly, he knows what to put in his mouth and to reject.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Burroughs walked fans through a day of refueling after a hard training cycle. He stressed the importance of clean eating, saying, “I want to make sure everything I put into my body is going to fuel my performance. What I put into my body is what I would get out. The better the fuel, the better the performance.”
Burroughs broke his day down into three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here’s what the Olympic champion ate for each meal:
Breakfast:
A smoothie with a handful of spinach, almond butter, almond milk, avocado, chia seeds, flaxseeds, turmeric, plant-based protein, and ice.
Lunch:
A veggie omelet with mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions + a fruit salad made with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
Dinner:
A piece of Atlantic salmon with sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and sweet potato.
