WBC junior lightweight champion Miguel Berchelt defeated Eleazar Valenzuela in six rounds on Saturday at the TV Azteca Studios in Mexico City.
Berchelt’s belt wasn’t on the line, as this was a tune-up fight for him before the real tests start. The Mexican was controlling the pace of the fight, as he was throwing a solid volume of punches.
Valenzuela was floored in the opening round, but h managed to get up on his feet and made it 5 more rounds. Then in the six, a pair of right hands stunned Valenzuela and a clean-up left hook had him dazed and disorientated on the ropes. As Berchelt advanced and threw a few more punches, the referee stepped in, and the fight was waved off.
