Judo World Champion tests possitive for COVID-19

2019 Judo World Champion – Jorge Fonseca, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Portuguese judoka who captured gold at the World Championships last year in Tokyo is not the only one from team Portugal who tested positive for the coronavirus.

Wilsa Gomes tested positive and they both abandoned the internship in Coimbra. The other 9 judokas who were in contact with Fonseca and Gomes tested negative, but they also abanded the training camp.

Fonseca unveiled last year that he had been diagnosed for cancer and was struggling to get back for the World Championships, that he eventually won by surprise.
