Heavyweight Luis Ortiz may have come up short in two title shots against Deontay Wilder, but he’s not planning on letting his most recent stoppage loss change the way he approaches the fight game. Ortiz tells RingTV that he still has designs on winning a world title and is willing to do whatever it takes to get there.
“I plan on being the same seek-and-destroy guy I’ve always been,” said Ortiz through interpreter and trainer, German Caicedo. “My goal is the same, to be heavyweight world champion. I don’t care who I have to face or where I have to go to get there.”
Ortiz went on to say that he expects to be back in the title mix next year and had some not so nice words for Anthony Joshua, who he claims is afraid to fight him. He also says he’s confident in what he could do against Tyson Fury if he ever got that opportunity.
Officially listed at age 41 — and often speculated to be even older than that — time is clearly not on Ortiz’s side. Does anyone think Ortiz still has enough left to get over the hump to claim a world title before he retires?
