With only two fights avoiding scorecards, “Performance of the Night” bonuses were easy choices on Saturday at UFC Vegas 14.
Of course, it didn’t hurt those two finishes were highlight-reel showings that boosted the stock of Khaos Williams and Sean Strickland, who both delivered wins that put an extra $50,000 in their pockets.
Williams laid out Abdul Razak Alhassan in just 30 seconds with a right cross that dropped jaws in the UFC APEX, while Strickland clubbed Brendan Allen with a serious of right hands that forced referee Herb Dean to wave off the fight in the second round.
As for the “Fight of the Night,” headliners Rafael dos Anjos and Paul Felder each earned an extra $50,000 for a five-round display of striking and grappling technique. Dos Anjos, returning to the lightweight division for the first time in four years, emerged the winner by split decision after 25 minutes, putting him back in the win column after a pair of setbacks at welterweight.
In all, seven of the fight card’s nine fights went the distance. Five fights elapsed before Strickland denied judges the work of scoring.
