Amanda Nunes was a 2-to-1 betting underdog when she strolled into UFC 232 with a chance to do the impossible and upset Cris Cyborg in a co-headlining bout.
She left that night not only as the promotion’s first female two-division champion and the first woman to defeat Cyborg since 2005, but also as the greatest female fighter of all-time.
In a true meeting of all-time greats, Nunes and Cyborg collided in December 2018 with history on the line. Nunes entered the contest riding a seven-fight win streak over the likes of Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), and Miesha Tate that solidified her as one of the best fighters in the world. Cyborg, likewise, was unbeaten over her previous 21 bouts and had finally captured UFC gold after winning titles in Strikeforce and Invicta FC.
Yet in the end, the dream matchup lasted just 51 seconds.
