WBA approves Yordenis Ugas vs. Errol Spence Jr.

An unification bout between WBA “Super” welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas and IBF and WBC king Errol Spence Jr. has been approved by the World Boxing Association’s President Gilberto Mendoza.

The fight should be taking place in the first quarter of 2022. Initially, WBA ordered Ugas to face his mandatory challenger Eimantas Stanionis, but the Lithuanian has agreed to step aside to allow the unification to take place.

Eimantas will be receiving a pretty nice check, but as of this moment nobody knows the exact amount of money Stanionis will be getting.

Ugas is coming off a massive 12 round UD  victory over Manny Pacquiao on August 21st last summer. Brought in as a replacement for the injured Spence, Ugas outboxed and outslugged Pacquiao to send the Filipino star into retirement.

Spence hasn’t fought since he defeated Danny Garcia in the end of 2020.
