WKF President Antonio Espinós on Thursday met via videoconference with officials of the USA Karate National Federation to discuss Karate’s strategy to achieve the inclusion of the sport in the programme of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
Headed by Mr Espinós, the meeting also had the participation of WKF CEO Sara Wolff, WKF Senior Adviser Francisco Alegrete, USA Karate National Federation Board Chairman Rahul Bawa, USA Karate National Federation CEO Phil Hampel, USAKF Board member and WKF Athletes’ Commission member Elisa Au, and WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura.
With the much-deserved Olympic inclusion of Karate at the core of WKF’s endeavours, the meeting established the ground principles of the project while the main elements of the action plan were analysed.
WKF President Antonio Espinós said:
“We are going to put all our efforts and work to obtain Karate’s inclusion in the programme of LA 2028. We are convinced that Karate deserves to be an Olympic sport and we are confident that Karate can bring great added value to the programme of LA 2028.
