Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones hasn’t fought since February 2020 when he made his last successful title defence.
Since then “Bones” has been working towards his heavyweight debut. Initially, the American was supposed to fight for the title against Stipe Miocic or Francis Ngannou.
“The Predator” captured the belt and it seemed like we’re heading towards a historic fight between Ngannou and Jones and then financial demands got in the way and thing fell off.
In the past couple of months there was information and rumours that Jones will finally made his heavyweight debut against Miocic with the interim belt on the line. The bout was supposed to take place in the summer, but now Jones is saying that he has no problem with waiting a little bit more.
The reason? He wants to face the best version of Miocic.
Stipe is saying that he will be at his absolute peak in September. I’m disappointed but patient, I want the heavyweight goat at his absolute best. I’ll wait until September. No excuses

Miocic himself hasn’t come out and stated anything as of yet.
