Downed the curtain in Nur-Sultan after two days of exciting competition in 2022 IBSA Judo Grand Prix Kazakhstan. More than one hundred judokas from 21 countries fought for gold and in the first day, besides the two gold medals for Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, Romania, Japan, Brazil and Kazakhstan also stepped the first place of podiums.
It is noteworthy that 18 of the 21 participating countries won medals. From these, several countries like Iraq, Switzerland and India won their first medals at the IBSA Grand Prix.
Neil Adams, IJF and IBSA commentator, said about the second Grand Prix of the year (after the first in Antalya): “Big Ippons and some incredible Judo in Nur-Sultan. As commentator, I was impressed by not only the level of the Judo, but also with the attitude and determination from the athletes. The new J1/J2 system seems to be working well, and it seems to be encouraging more blind and visually impaired Judoka to participate in our sport. It gave me great pleasure to be in Kazakhstan and to be part of this great event”.
