Yesterday we got familiar with two new instructors at the annual International Summer Kyokushin Camp organized The Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation and The Kyokushin World Union in Kamchiya. Today the practitioners were honoured by three more big names in the world of Kyokushin!
In the morning practice the fighters got to learn from no other but Shihan Antonio Pinheiro, 9th dan – President of Kyokushin World Federation. He demonstrated his skills in front of the groups for instructors and taught them important fundamentals about balance, movement and speed. The rest of the fighters got their daily dose of exercise, skills polishing, and preparation for their upcoming exams for upgrading their ranks.
Of course, today there were also fighters under the guidance of Sensei Zahari Damyanov who trained at the beach. In the afternoon session, his group had even the most fun of all – sparring! In the training session today we saw again the 4x All-Japan Champion and KWU World Champ Yusuke Fuji. He guided the teenagers and corrected their mistakes by following their every movement and watched carefully how they do Kata. His fellow countryman, All-Japan champion and KWU Worlds silver medalist Jo Miyahara also attended the afternoon class and helped with the passing on of the knowledge of karate to the younger generations.
In the afternoon practice the mood was boosted by two more fresh faces who are very important for the karate world. The president of International Federation of Karate Shihan David Picthall, 7th dan turned up. He was accompanied by the 3x world and 4x european champion Emma Markwell. She engaged with the female fighters and gathered them in a group. Markwell showed them a couple of techniques for shortening the distance and drills for level changing the attacks. Shihan Picthall gathered some of the most promising young talents from the camp and showed them a few knockout combinations and little tips on how to make their opponents quit.
Both Englishmen spent time with all the students that needed help and corrected their techniques and answered their questions. The British karate masters showed a lot of patience and lifted up the mood in the session with their fresh attitude.
