Kickboxing icon and K-1 four-time heavyweight champion Semmy Schilt has been inducted into the GLORY Hall of Fame.
“Hightower”, a former GLORY heavyweight champion, was immortalised during the GLORY: Collision 4 event that took place yesterday in Netherlands. Shilt, 48, is one of the regulars and a main instructor at the KWU International Professional League seminars that are taking place in Bulgaria.
The legend received a huge standing ovation from more than 15 000 fight fans prior to the huge main event between Alistair Overeem and Badr Hari.
“I have a history with GLORY and I have to admit I was a little surprised by this gesture”, Schilt admitted.
“I’m grateful for being inducted into the Hall of Fame, I wasn’t expecting this. I want to thank my wife. She supported me throughout the whole time – before and after fights. I also want to thank my K-1 brother and all my opponents I ever faced. Shout out to Remy Bonjasky, Peter Aerts it was always a pleasure to fight them. If it weren’t for guys like them, I ‘d never be the champion that I was”, Schilt said.
