WKF Athletes Commission meets in Konya

The WKF Athletes’ Commission gathered in Konya (Turkiye) where the 2022 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships are taking place. Athletes’ safety and proposals to improve the Karate competition were on top of the agenda of the meeting.

Headed by WKF Athletes’ Commission chairman and Executive Committee member Davide Benetello, the representative body of Karate met in Konya to discuss updates on the situation of karatekas around the world.

All the members of the commission travelled to Turkiye to participate in the gatherings. Nguyen Hoang Ngan of Vietnam, Vasiliki Panetsidou of Greece, Antonio Diaz of Venezuela, Douglas Brose of Brazil, Stanislav Horuna from Ukraine, and Elisa Au from the United States attended the meetings. They also had the opportunity to share their experiences with the young athletes competing in Konya at the Athletes’ Commission stand.

WKF President Antonio Espinós said:

“Your contribution as members of the Athletes’ Commission is essential for the progress of our sport. You are not just great champions; you are the voice of thousands of karatekas who hope to find the best conditions to develop their skills. We will certainly be looking forward to receiving your feedback and I want to thank (chairman) Davide Benetello because he is always restless in sharing the athletes’ input at the Executive Committee. With your assistance, we can make sure that the safety and well-being of karatekas are guaranteed.”
