Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Azamat Murzakanov has accepted a two-year suspension from USADA for a 2017 violation of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy.
Murzakanov tested positive for boldenone metabolites (5β-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one and androsta-1,4-diene-6β-ol-3,17-dione), banned substances which are classified as anabolic agents, in an out-of-competition urine sample administered on Sept. 2, 2017.
As a result of the failed test, Murzakanov has been given a two-year sanction retroactive to the date of his out-of-competition screening, meaning he will be cleared to compete on Sept. 2, 2019.
According to a statement issued by USADA, “The delay in resolving Murzakanov’s case was due to requests for additional time by Murzakanov to investigate the source of his positive test.”
A 29-year-old Russian prospect, Murzakanov (7-0), has yet to debut to in the UFC. He was previously scheduled to fight Joachim Christensen in June 2017 at UFC Oklahoma City but withdrew from the contest due to injury.
A veteran of the Russian regional scene, Murzakanov has earned stoppages in six of his seven professional wins, including five victories via KO/TKO.
