“Magic Man”, who has a long history of hand injuries during his pro career, released a statement on Instagram regarding the fact he broke his right hand after the second round. The 38-years-old came to the post-fight press conference with both hand wrapped up heavily and admitted he sustained yet another injury to his right hand which he got under the knife for time.
After losing to the Russian MMA fighter, Malignaggi said a broken hand hindered his performance throughout the fight.
“I beat him with one hand, I broke my hand in round 2,” he told Seconds Out.
“I didn’t get an X-ray, but I’ve broken my hand enough times to know what it feels like. I landed a jab to the stomach, a right hand, one-two combination and the instant I landed it, I knew my hand had broke.
“I don’t know if I threw another right hand, but honestly, I didn’t need to because I was controlling the fight with my left hand.”
Then the Italian-American posted two pictures of both his hands demonstrating the hard-knock life you have to go through if you want to be a Bare Knuckle fighter.
