The much anticipated World Boxing Super Series final in the cruiserweight tournament between WBO world champion Mairis Briedis (26-1) and IBF king Yuniel Dorticos (24-1) has just become a bit more fascinating, as WBC announced that they will add the cruiserweight green and yellow belt to the mix.
Since the former titleholder, Oleksandr Usyk (16-0) took his talent to the heavyweight division, all of his belts are being relocated and now the stakes in the Dorticos-Briedis grand finale just got higher. Whoever manages to get the W, will be calling himself the unified WBO, IBF, and WBC world cruiserweight champion.
The venue and the date of the bout are yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected that they will face each other in September or October. The 33-year-old Dorticos defeated Andrew Tabiti via KO in the 10th round, while the 34-years-old Briedis TKO’d Krzysztof Glowacki in the third round.
