The much-anticipated fight between UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway (21-4) and the number 1 ranked guy in the featherweight division – Alexander Volkanovski (20-1) will probably have to wait until December or January next year.

“Blessed” has just defeated Frankie Edgar at UFC 240 this past Saturday and after the clash, he said he’s planning on fighting one more time in 2019 but he’s not quite ready to commit to a quick turnaround to face “The Great” in October. The reason for this, of course, is strictly medical.
UFC 243 is scheduled for October in Volkanovski’s homeland of Australia, but the 27-year-old Holloway will need to go through some testing before he’s cleared out to fight again in just two months.
“We’ll see what happens,” Holloway said at the post-fight press conference about potentially returning in October.
“I look fine, I look great but I’ll wait till my team, I’ll wait till my coaches. We’ve got to get medical testing. I’ve fought three title fights in seven months. I want to fight one more time this year but we’ve got to go take all the right tests and see and we’ll go from there.”
