The UFC welterweight division is probably at all-time peak right now. Kamaru Usman is the champ at the moment, but there are a lot of hungry and deserving dogs below him, that want to test their skills set against the man at the top.
Just to name a few – Colby Covington, Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal, Darren Till, Raphael dos Anjos, Ben Askren…
Two days ago, UFC President Dana White admitted that Colby Covington is the mandatory challenger for the belt and it’s more than obvious that this decision didn’t go well with the hottest name in the welterweight category – Jorge Masvidal.
“Gamebred” is a vet in the game and it’s currently on a two-fight winning streak. His last performance against Ben Askren at UFC 239 was historic and the 34-year-old Cuban-American said numerous times that either he wants Conor McGregor or a championship fight against Usman.
Unfortunately for him, it seems that he will be getting neither of his two wishes granted. Dana White answered his employee demands by saying the following:
“You can’t make ultimatums,” White said about Masvidal. “Listen, we’re going to offer him a fight, and if he accepts the fight, he does and if he doesn’t, he doesn’t.”
