Erislandy Lara (26-3-3) is the new WBA world super welterweight champion after he TKO’d Ramon Alvarez (28-8-3) in the second round of their championship bout this past Saturday.
The fight took place in Minneapolis, US. The 36-year-old American was on another level compared to Canelo’s big brother who stood there for two rounds, eating hard shots to the head before the ref decided that he had seen enough.

In his post-fight interview, Lara said that he’d love to get a rematch with Saul Alvarez whom he fought back in 2014 and lost to via controversial decision.
“I want the best. I always look to fight the best and that won’t stop now. I wouldn’t mind having rematches with any of the guys I’ve fought, especially Canelo.”
“I would like for it to be at 160 for the belts, but if he wants to move up I’d fight him at any weight. The weight doesn’t matter as much as the skills do in boxing.”
