It seems Alexander Gustafsson (18-6) won’t be retiring any time soon.
The former light heavyweight title challenger last fought in June when he lost to Anthony Smith via submission in the 4th round. He even announced after the fight that he will be hanging the gloves for good, but three months later it seems he has changed his mind.
“It came quite fast,” he told MMA Viking.
“I was home for a couple days, and I had itching in my hands and wanted to get back and train… “I just want to train and get into shape. Let’s see how it goes.”
The Swedish went even further saying that he’d love to face Luke Rockhold who is also coming off of a loss. Rockhold made his light heavyweight debut at UFC 239, but Jan Błachowicz beat him up.
“I would love a fight,” Gustafsson said. “A fight against Luke would be a great way to come back. He is a tough guy, a legend”, further stating the Rockhold fight a “good payday.”
