UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier (25-6) will probably never be so close again to the lightweight title of the organization, but that’s life in combat sports.
“Diamond” lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov (28-0) last Saturday in Abu Dhabi, but his performance was nothing short of impressive, having in mind who his adversary was. After the fight was over, both guys switched t-shirts and demonstrated respect to each other, both being humble in defeat and victory.
Some days after the bout, the American thanked the Russian for the lesson and the experience via Instagram.
A couple of days ago the 30-year-old Poirier threw the glove to an old foe – Conor McGregor, proposing rematch between the two. The pair initially met back in 2014. Since then both men have drastically improved their skillsets and there is no doubt that a second fight will be the main event that will be remembered for a long time to come.
