UFC two-weight champion Amanda Nunes (18-4) is heading into another bantamweight defense against Germaine de Randamie (9-3) in December, but after that “Lioness” will be defending her featherweight strap. UFC President Dana White announced the news himself.
“She will defend it after this fight. 100 percent,” White said earlier this week.
“She wants to and she will. Imagine her not having to cut weight. After beating Cyborg and the other people that she’s beat at 35, who does she have to worry about right now that she would be like ‘oh I don’t want to defend my 145-pound title’.”
Nunes claimed the featherweight championship last December when she destroyed Cris Cyborg at UFC 232. Since then, she defeated Holly Holm to retain her bantamweight belt at UFC 239. It’s interesting though who will be the next challenger in line since Cristiane Justino is no longer in UFC.
