Canelo vs Jacobs: Nevada assigns same judges as Canelo-Golovkin rematch

The Nevada State Athletic Commission have assigned the officials for the May 4 fight at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas between Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs, and some fans are really not going to like the next part.

The judges will be Glenn Feldman, Dave Moretti, and Steve Weisfeld — the exact same group that scored a majority decision win for Alvarez over Gennady Golovkin last September.

That night, Feldman had the fight even, while Moretti and Weisfeld each scored it 115-113 for Canelo. All three are high-profile, veteran judges, but depending on what you thought of the scoring that evening, these assignments may really stick in your craw.

The referee for the fight will be another veteran official, Tony Weeks, who was the third man in the ring for Alvarez’s 2014 win over Alfredo Angulo as well as his 2010 win over Jose Cotto, which was Alvarez’s arrival fight in the United States on the Mayweather-Mosley undercard.

Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KO) will defend his WBC and WBA middleweight titles against Jacobs (35-2, 29 KO), who holds the IBF title, which will also be on the line. DAZN will stream the fight live in the United States.
