Charlo twins successful in their returns

Jermall Charlo and Jermell Charlo were both on the winning end of their fights last night.

The twins fought in a premier Boxing Champions PPV doubleheader and defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Jeison Rosario, respectively.

Jermall was the first one to get in the ring, as he was defending his WBC middleweight world title against Sergiy Derevyanchenko. The American got the W via UD with all three judges scoring in favour of the champ (116-112, 117-111 and 118-110).

The older brother of the two twins looked crisp with his counters and amazing with his defense as he evaded many of the heavy blows coming back from Derevyanchenko, who now has lost in his three attempts at securing a middleweight title. Still, the widescore cards don’t show how difficult Derevyanchenko made things for Charlo.

Then it was Jermell’s turn to shine, as he was facing the IBF and WBA junior middleweight champion Jeison Rosario. The Charlo twin put his WBC belt on the line, too.

Rosario fought one of his best fights, but Charlo’s power was too much, as the Dominican got KO’d in the 8th round. It was one of the most unusual KOs – a jab to the body.

Roasrio got knocked down twice – in the first and the six rounds, but he managed to continue the fight only to get beaten in the 8th.

Between the knockdowns, Rosario actually put up a pretty good fight, as he went forward and outworked Charlo with a thunderous body attack. Rosario was actually winning his share of rounds after his first trip to the canvas, as he put Charlo on his back foot.
