Former world heavyweight title challenger Derek Chisora has added some extra firepower to his team prior to his upcoming fight with former world champion Joseph Parker.
“WAR” has linked up with one of the finest boxing coaches of our time – Buddy McGirt. The American will take the role of a head trainer and will try to put Chisora back on the winning road.
The Brit hasn’t fought since last October when he got beat by Oleksandr Usyk. The showdown with New Zealand’s Parker is set for May 1.
Buddy McGirt has worked with multiple world champions, including Arturo Gatti, Antonio Tarver, Hasim Rahman, Paulie Malignaggi, and Sergey Kovalev. McGirt was named Trainer of the Year for 2002 by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
Parker recently parted ways with longtime trainer Kevin Barry and hired former world champion, Andy Lee. Lee has a number of clients. He works as the assistant trainer to WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
