UFC president – Dana White said that there is no one more deserving of a title shot in the lightweight division than Tony Ferguson (24-3).
Forget about rematches for now, Tony Ferguson should be next for Khabib Nurmagomedov (whenever that’s possible) (@ChuckMindenhall) https://t.co/3BOPa8q0yQ pic.twitter.com/ctcqOzaCln

‘El Cucuy’ and Khabib Nurmagomedov had to face each other more than a few times in the past, but injuries and weight problem caused the long-anticipated show to be postponed.
As of this moment, Nurmagomedov is banned for 9 months by NSAC for the altercations that took place after UFC 229 last October. The 30-year-old Dagestanian can reduce his ban to 6 months if he’s able to film and release a public service announcement (PSA), delivering an anti-bullying message for impressionable youth.
Last week ‘The Eagle’ suggested that there should be a fight for the interim lightweight title between Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier (24-5).
And it seems Dana White couldn’t agree more.
Yesterday, after the press conference for UFC 234, White talked to reporters about the situations and the potential fight between Khabib and Tony.
‘I haven’t heard from Khabib, so when we talk, we’ll figure it out and we’ll see what happens.

Of course Tony deserves a title shot, he’s the No. 1 contender. He’s the guy. That’s the fight’, White said.
