Former two-weigh world champion Danny Garcia (35-2) is still being mentioned as a top candidate for Manny Pacquiao’s return to the ring in 2020.
“Swift” is scheduled to fight on January 25 against Ivan Redkach in Brooklyn, US. The bout is a WBC welterweight eliminator and the winner of the bout will land a shot against Errol Spence Jr. Eventually.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao is expected to start his training camp in late February, but there is no information on his next opponent and date. “Pac-Man” last fought Keith Thurman in July, defeating him via SD and capturing the WBA “Super” welterweight belt.
Garcia, 31, believes he possesses the right tools to dethrone the Philipino legend, but he said that nobody really wants to fight him.
“They just sayin’ it cause of the hype. And then when it comes down to it nobody really wanna fight. Pacman said it and then he fought Thurman. So he’s saying it again but let’s see,” Garcia stated to Fighthype.com.
“Manny Pacquiao is a legend I respect him but Danny Garcia is a legend killer! I have better timing than Keith and I have better one-punch knockout power than Keith. And I’m a better counter-puncher than Keith,” Garcia responded when asked about how he would be able to finish Pacquiao.”
It’s important to say, Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia met in 2017 and Thurman got the W via SD.
