Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn cleraly is not the biggest Kubrat Pulev (26-1-0) fan in the world.
Pulev, 37, had to fight Joshua (22-0-0) last october, but the bulgarian had to withdraw from the bout because of an injury he suffered during his training camp.
Pulev was inactive for the last year and a half, but he returned to the ring last october in Sofia and won an IBF final eliminator against Hughie Fury via UD.
Now “The Cobra” is once again in the hunt for Joshua’s title, but Eddie Hearn declared that Pulev will get his chance probably in 2020.
“Our priorities are bouts with Tyson Fury (27-0-1) and Deontay Wilder (40-0-1), but for Josh the most important thing is to unify the division. And that can only happen if he faces Wilder. I know there are people that think Tyson Fury is the man in the heavyweight division, because he defeated Klitschko before Josh did and then he beat Wilder, in my opinion.
I know Josh very well, he is a really competitive guy. I said this before, but I think he beats both Fury and Wilder.
If Wilder and Fury meet next, the unification bout may never happen because of mandatories. Wilder wants a rematch with Fury and he’ll probably lose. Then Fury must face Dominic Breazeale.
Joshua’s next mandatory is WBO. If Dillian Whyte manages to get through Chisora, he’ll be that guy. Then it’s Kubrat Pulev, but that wont happen until 2020.
One day he (Joshua) might vacate some of his titles. If he becomes unified champion and fight Wilder and Fury, nobody will want to see Joshua – Pulev, with all due respect.
There are a lot of people he can fight – Dillian Whyte, Jarrell Miller, Luis Ortiz, even Joe Joyce, who’s coming up”.
