Eddy Reynoso on Andy Ruiz: He’ll be a world champion again

One of the best boxing minds in the world right now Eddy Reynoso is a firm believer that Andy Ruiz Jr. will once again reign as a world heavyweight champion.

Reynoso is one of the two men behind Saul Alvarez’s successful career. The Mexican trainer linked up with Ruiz in 2020. “El Destroyer” was just months away from Anthony Joshua loss in Saudi Arabia.

Ever since Ruiz switched team and started training with Reynoso, he has lost a significant amount of weight, and the American-Mexican looks like a lot of danger for his adversaries.

This upcoming weekend marks the comeback of Ruiz. He’ll be facing Chris Arreola in a heavyweight fight that a lot of people deem as an absolute mismatch.

“The most important thing for Andy is the discipline and his mentality. Those are the main aspects we’ve been working on. From there, we have the building blocks to get better each and every day with everything we want to do,” Reynoso said.

“The talent and intelligence has always been there for Andy. It’s a pleasure to work with him. He’s done everything I’ve asked of him so far.

“I’m really excited for this fight. You’re going to see a new Andy Ruiz Jr. both physically and mentally. You’re going to see him become champion again. I can’t wait for this step on May 1.

“It’s definitely going to be a tough fight against Arreola. These are two fighters who had the same upbringing. There’s going to be nowhere to hide in the ring and they’re going to bring out the best in each other.”
