France dominates at the 2020 Judo European Championships

The Women’s National team of France dominated the 2020 Judo European Championships that took place this past week in Prague, Czech Republic.

They captured an impressive five of the seven gold medals available in the women’s categories and two bronze medals at the O2 Arena, topping the medal table of the competition.

Shirine Boukli (-48 kg), Clarisse Agbegnenou (-63 kg), Margaux Pinot (-70 kg), Madeleine Malonga (-78 kg), Romane Dicko (+78 kg) all won their respective divisions, while Sarah Leonie Cysique (-57 kg) and Marie Eve Gahie (-70 kg) claimed bronze.

The male judokas from France contributed with one bronze medal in the -66 kg category, captured by Kilian Le Blouch.

345 judokas from 40 countries took part in the prestigious event that had to take place in May but got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the men’s standings, it was the Russian national team that dominated. They won 3 golden and 3 silver medals.
