Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn beleieves the highly anticipated rematch between the unifid heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua will be staged in May or June.
As of this moment, there is still no info on when or where exactly the fight will take place which is odd, given the fact that Joshua activated his rematch clause in October 2021.
The Middle East and UK are the front runners for hosting the fight, with Hearn admitting that it all depends on what kind of an offer will the Middle East guys make.
“I’ve just come back from the Middle East. We’ve had numerous meetings with different countries in the Middle East to stage that fight,” Hearn said to the DAZN Boxing Show.
“Egis Klimas and Oleksandr Usyk are actually in the UK this week, so we’re going to sit down with them and just talk through everything,” Hearn said.
“We’re getting to a stage now where we’re going to start thinking about securing a date which will be the end of May or June.
“There’s nothing that’s going to stop Anthony Joshua from taking that fight,” said Hearn about the rematch with Usyk.
