Horrible injury marks Irish talent’s pro debut (VIDEO)

Ireland’s Joe Ward certainly won’t forget his pro boxing debut but for all the wrong reasons.

The 25-year-old met American Marco Delgado in light heavyweight on the undercard of the Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko fight in New York. But only a minute into the second round, Ward took a step back to avoid a punch from Delgado and dislocated his left knee. The ringside doctor managed to put the Irishman’s kneecap back into place and Ward was able to leave the arena on his feet with some help. The fight will go down as a TKO victory for Delgado. Ward suffered a similar injury during the 2013 European Championships in Minsk.
