The International Boxing Federation has ordered a fight for the IBF heavyweight title between the unified heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk and the mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic from Croatia.
This means that the plans for a undisputed fight between Ukraine’s Usik and the WBC champion Tyson Fury are up in the air, as if there were any realistic chances of this bout materializing.
Hrgovic climbed off the canvas to defeat Zhilei Zhang on points in a final IBF title eliminator on the undercard of Usyk’s rematch win over Anthony Joshua in August.
Few weeks ago Usyk’s team stated that they are working with Frank Warren and Bob Arum regarding the undisputed clash. Fury had the chance to fight Usyk this December, but instead he offered a fight to Anthony Joshua and when negotiations between Fury and AJ collapsed, Fury offered a trilogy fight to Derek Chisora who accepted.
