Today’s flashback brings us 11 years back in the time when the 18th World Grand Prix K-1 event took place in 2010.
8 of the finest heavyweight kickboxers are going to Tokyo, Japan, in order to participate in the biggest kickboxing event of the year. Mighty Mo, Peter Aerts, Semmy Schilt, Alistair Overeem, Tyrone Spong, Kyotaro, Gokhan Saki, and Daniel Ghita all made it to the quarterfinals.
The event takes place on December 11 in front of 11 835 fans at “Ariake Coliseum”.
The first semi-final of the night opposes two of kickboxing’s biggest legends – Netherlands’ finest Semmy Schilt and Peter Aerts.
This is the fifth and final bout between those two, with both fighters winning two fights each. Even though Schilt and Aerts are known as one of the most dangerous heavy hitters in K-1, the fight goes on for the full nine minutes, making the battle one of the most astonishing fights in the history of kickboxing and martial arts.
