Jamel Herring vs Carl Frampton reportedly planned for December 19th in London

The Sisyphean odyssey of Jamel Herring vs. Carl Frampton may finally be coming to an end. Irish Boxing reports that the long-suffering title fight may now take place December 19th in London, which is in line with Frampton’s previous claim that the two would meet before 2021.

The 19th presently appears open as far as boxing goes; Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were slated to meet on that date, but the fight moved due to football conflicts and later dissolved. The rest of December is also pretty packed; the 5th has Fury, Garcia-Campbell, and Spence-Garcia, while the 12th features Joshua-Pulev and Oubaali-Donaire. If Top Rank and co. are committed to staging this on a Saturday before the new year, this might be their only real option.

Can’t blame them for wanting to get this done sooner rather than later, of course. Both Herring (22-2, 10 KO) and Frampton (28-2, 16 KO) have been painfully unfortunate these past couple years, so it’s best to get them in the ring before fate finds any more new and inventive ways to screw things over.
