Japan Wrestling Championships canceled due to COVID-19 concerns

The Japan Wrestling Federation announced yesterday that due to the increasing number of new COVID-19 cases the 2020 National Championships will be canceled.

The event was scheduled for October, but the organizing committee has decided that the safety of the wrestlers will be at stake if they go on with the competition.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of the Federation’s work. By the way, the Federation was preparing for the event by taking a questionnaire about the event to be held in October of this year and taking preventive measures against new coronavirus infection. We would like to inform you that it will be (suspended) from the viewpoint of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infection.”

There is no information on when and where the competition will be played out.
