The rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. for the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles pulled in approximately 1.8 million viewers.
The new subscribers on DAZN last Saturday are 200 000, according to Mike Coppinger.
In the UK, Joshua – Ruiz 2 broke pay-per-view records in bringing in 1.6 million buys on Sky Sports.
There is sense making a trilogy now, but heavyweight contenders aren’t really into it. Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev is next on the line for title shot (IBF).
“He certainly doesn’t want to let the titles in the ring, or out of the ring,” said promoter Eddie Hearn to ESPN.com. “The IBF seems to be the one that was certainly ordered first. But I’ll need to speak to Daryl Peoples (president of the IBF), I’ll need to speak to Francisco Valcarcel, the head of the WBO.”
Joshua (23-1, 21 KO) won on scores of 118-110, 118-110, and 119-109, nearly sweeping the scores from the three ringside judges.
