Justin Gaethje delivered a career-high performance this past Saturday at UFC 249. But in matchups against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, he’s still an underdog.
New prop bets released by Betonline.ag pair the new UFC interim champ against the undisputed champ and former two-division title holder, and he’s not favored to win.
Here are the lines:
Justin Gaethje vs Khabib Nurmagomedov
Justin Gaethje +200 (2/1)
Khabib Nurmagomedov -250 (2/5)
Justin Gaethje vs Conor McGregor
Justin Gaethje +150 (3/2)
Conor McGregor -175 (4/7)
Against Nurmagomedov, a $100 bet for Gaethje would result in a $200 profit, while the same bet would net $150 against McGregor.
After Gaethje’s spectacular win over Tony Ferguson, UFC President Dana White said he’s going to start working on a title unifier between the new champ and Nurmagomedov, who currently is observing Ramadan and said he could return as quickly as July. But given the recent uncertainty in the UFC’s schedule and McGregor’s star power, the Irish star is always a factor in future matchmaking.
Gaethje stopped Ferguson by fifth-round TKO to claim the interim lightweight title put on the line when Nurmagomedov was unable to leave the country for a fight with Ferguson at UFC 249 on April 18. The promotion rescheduled the pay-per-view to May 9 with no audience.
Nurmagomedov, who shares the same manager as Gaethje, first declined comment after Gaethje’s win. But he later praised the new champ’s work. White said the long-anticipated fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson, which has been canceled five times, moves to the backburner.
