A deal has been reached for a unification bout between the lightweight world champions Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez.
The fight has been targeted for October 17 with the venue yet to be confirmed.
The Ukrainian who holds the WBA and WBO titles was willing to cut his purse and give $500 000 to Lopez who was not happy with the amount of 1.3 million dollars that was offered to him.
“It’s not done until contracts are signed, I’m not being an alarmist or so forth, but I made the deal with David McWater, the manager of Lopez,” Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said. “We’ve got to paper the deal, which will be done tomorrow.”
The fight will probably go on without fans due to the coronavirus restrictions that are still in place in the US.
