Mackenzie Dern now faces Hannah Cifers at UFC Fight Night on April 25

Mackenzie Dern has a new opponent for her return to action. The multi-time grappling champion is now expected to face Hannah Cifers on April 25.

Dern was originally scheduled to meet Ariane Carnelossi, but with travel restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, she wasn’t able to get into the United States on time.

Multiple sources confirmed the new matchup to MMA Fighting on Thursday with bout agreements issued for the fight. ESPN initially reported the new matchup.

Dern makes her first appearance in the UFC since losing to Amanda Ribas this past October. That was the first blemish on Dern’s record after she started her career with seven straight wins, including two victories in the UFC.

As for Cifers, she will look to get back on track after suffering a loss to Angela Hill in her previous outing in January. Overall, Cifers is 2-2 in the UFC with wins over Polyana Viana and Jodie Esquibel.

Dern vs. Cifers joins the UFC Fight Night card on April 25, which is headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira.
