Bellator heavyweight Matt Mitrione won’t be competing against Tyrell Fortune this Friday at Bellator 255.
The former UFC fighter was forced to withdraw from the bout against his fellow countryman in what had to be the main card opener. of Friday’s Bellator 255 show, which takes place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The reason behind the decision is unknown and Bellator is looking for a replacement for the 42-year-old Mitrione. People with knowledge of the situation are reporting that the organization will put a rematch between Fortune and Jack May. The pair fought to a No Contest last year after low blows ended the fight.
Mitrione hasn’t fought since August 2020 when he lost to Timothy Johnson.
