Moscow to host Russian wrestling championship in September

Russia’s wrestling freestyle championship will take place on September 18-29 in Moscow. Initially, the event was scheduled for April, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Vice- President of the  Russian Wrestling Federation, Arsen Fadzaev, said that Moscow got the “call” because of the epidemiological situation in the country.

“Moscow is supported by the fact that there are more opportunities to provide all the necessary sanitary and preventive safety conditions for the participants in the competition. The issue with the arena, where the championship will take place, and whether spectators will be allowed into the stands has not yet been resolved – we’ll make the decision when September comes”, Fadzaev Said.

The planned Russian championship will act as the national trials to select the wrestlers for the Tokyo Olympics and the upcoming world championships is scheduled for December.
