Patricio Pitbull and AJ McKee finally have a date for their highly-anticipated Bellator featherweight grand prix final.
The two-division champion will face the undefeated talent at an upcoming Bellator show on July 30, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting. The location for the event, which will air on Showtime, has yet to be determined.
Pitbull (32-4), who also holds the Bellator lightweight belt, made his way to the 145-pound tournament final by defeating Juan Archuleta, Pedro Carvalho and Emmanuel Sanchez on his bracket.
The Brazilian hasn’t lost a featherweight bout in almost six years, scoring wins over the likes of Daniel Straus and Daniel Weichel and capturing the lightweight title in the process with a quick victory over Michael Chandler.
McKee (17-0), who has built his entire MMA record under the Bellator banner, made short work of Georgi Karakhanyan, Derek Campos and Darrion Caldwell to earn his shot at the featherweight championship.
McKee has only gone the distance six times as a professional. Before the Bellator grand prix kicked off in 2019, he defeated names like Pat Curran, John Teixeira and Brian Moore.
