Bellator’s lightweight and featherweight champion Patricio Freire (30-4) made another successful title defense yesterday at Bellator 228 when he defeated Juan Archuleta (23-2) in the main event of the night.
Freire got the W via UD (49-46, 50-45, 49-46), delivering his third straight featherweight belt defense since he recaptured the title in April of 2017.

The headlining clash was not only a title bout, but a first-rounder of the new Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix tournament.
Pitbull’s jab was working all night long, as his adversary was unable to defend properly. Archuleta’s counters were often not timed well and given the fact that he was fighting on the back foot the majority of the fight, there was only one way this fight was ending.

“The Spaniard” was on a remarkable 18-fight winning streak that started way back in 2015, but the double champion put an end to it yesterday.
